  36.  
  37.            The key to successful brewing lies in keeping good
  38.       records of each batch!  Like most, I tend to learn from my
  39.       experiences (good and bad).  My weak point has always been
  40.       in locating the scraps of paper where I invariably kept my
  41.       brewing notes.
  42.  
  43.            This was the inspiration for SUDSW - the brewers
  44.       cookbook and log program.  From a simple attempt to
  45.       coordinate some recipe and log notes, SUDSW turned into a
  46.       year-long project and has resulted in an extremely
  47.       comprehensive brewer's program.

  49.            This is the third major release of SUDS for Microsoft
  50.       Windows 3.1 and involved almost a total rewrite of the DOS
  51.       version.  The two versions are extremely similar and share
  52.       the same file structures.  You can move easily between both
  53.       versions and can even keep both in the same directory if you
  54.       wish!

  56.                      SUDSW 3.0 changes
  57.  
  58.       o Added recipe formulator to program.  This function allows you to build     
  59.         custom recipes by simply entering in raw ingredients.  SUDS will calculate
  60.         your starting gravity, bitterness, alcohol content automatically for you.
  61.       o Added AHA style database with all current beer styles and ranges as of
  62.         March, 1994.
  63.       o Added Malt database for formulator with information for most common
  64.         malts and sugars.  You can also add your own data to this!
  65.       o SUDSW now supports metric and english units of measure.
  66.       o Expanded Hop calculator to allow up to 6 hop entries per log entry.
  67.       o Log entries now have a button to automatically display their associated
  68.         recipe.
  69.       o Filter function now allows you to limit recipes shown to those that you have

  86.       o Improved delete functions.  Deleting Recipe will now delete

  143.         between windows, mouse support and Windows clipboard import/export.
  144.       o Ability to import and export standard ASCII text files to and from the     
  145.         SUDS recipe database allowing recipes to be shared with SUDS and
  146.         non-SUDS brewers.
  147.       o Ability to import and export formatted SUDS SXF-files allowing you to
  148.         share your recipes easily with other SUDS and SUDSW users.
  149.       o Recipe and log printing and reporting capabilities.
  150.       o Recipe formulation feature to automatically calculate recipes based on the     
  151.         raw materials you enter.
  152.       o Ability to search recipes by category, alcohol content, gravities and/or by
  153.         text contents.
  154.       o Ability to enter judging values and competition notes for log entries.
  155.       o Categorization of recipes by type (Pale Ale, Stout, etc.) and ability to
  156.         define your own recipe styles.

  162.       SUDSW is not, nor has it ever been free software or "Public
  163.       Domain".  SUDSW is being distributed as shareware and
  164.       continued use beyond the 30-day trial period is prohibited.

  166.       Unlike a new recipe, SUDSW is a no-lose proposition!  You're
  167.       free to try out SUDSW for a 30 day period after which you can
  168.       pay the nominal $20 registration fee if you are satisfied.

  173.       Because SUDSW is distributed as shareware, you are strongly
  174.       encouraged to share SUDSW with other brewers.  I would ask
  175.       only that if you do use the program, you pay the
  176.       registration fee.  Shareware only works as well as it is
  177.       supported and this helps keep software prices reasonable!

  179.       The support for SUDSW will help determine whether or not it
  180.       will continue to be released as shareware.

  182.       Hardware requirements - This release of SUDS requires at least
  183.       2 megs of memory and Microsoft Windows release 3.1 or higher
  184.       (or OS/2 2.1).

  186.       A non-Windows version of SUDS is also available (SUDS23.EXE).
  187.       This is functionally equivalent with the exception of the recipe
  188.       formulation, though character based!
  189.  
  190.       Full permission is hereby granted to redistribute SUDSW in its
  191.       entirety free of charge provided the above conditions are met.  
  192.       SUDSW may be freely uploaded to any electronic BBS's or libraries.  
  193.       SUDSW may also be distributed via shareware libraries provided 
  194.       that the diskette cost does not exceed $15.
